About the Journal

Aim of the Journal 

The Journal of Central Asian Studies is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication released quarterly (in March, June, September, and December). The journal aims to support emerging researchers by providing a comprehensive platform for the study of international relations of Central Asia and CIS countries, including geopolitical, economic, social, cultural, and other aspects with foreign partners.

Scope of the Journal:

  • International Relations of Central Asia and CIS countries;
  • International Security and Cooperation in the Region;
  • Domestic politics of Central Asia & CIS: social, economic, environmental, and cultural aspects of development.

History of the Journal 

It is published by the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan since 2003. The Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a state forecasting and analytical institution. 

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure the integrity and quality of published research.

Open Access Policy

All articles are made freely accessible to readers immediately upon publication under a Creative Commons license. This allows anyone to access and redistribute the content. Users may reuse the content in new or derivative works, provided they give appropriate citation.

The journal offers articles under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. It adheres to an open access policy, promoting the free dissemination of scientific information and the global exchange of knowledge for the advancement of social progress. Full-text access to the journal's manuscripts is available in the "All Issues" section.

Certificate of Registration

The journal was re-registered by the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan on February 23, 2024, with Registration Certificate No. KZ72VPY00088070. The initial registration of the journal was completed on January 24, 2003, with Registration Certificate No. 3529-zh.
