This article examines the peculiarities of the formation of national identity in Kazakhstan . The aim is to analyze dilemmas and challenges that require special attention from the state and society . The authors assess national identity in the context of two processes: on the one hand, in line with the processes of globalization and unification of world culture, on the other hand, through the prism of the growing desire of Kazakh society for national identification. This ambivalence affects the emerging national identity and is reflected in the reaction of society expressed in the public and media discourse of the country
